Steve Hagen at Deep Peace Wellness Studio - 08/07/2010 - Delete - Edit
Head teacher at Dharma Field Zen Center in Minneapolis, Steve Hagen will be in Duluth to provide a public talk on Zen and Zen practice at 7:00PM on August 7th at the Deep Peace Wellness Studio.

Steve has been a student of Buddhist thought and practice since 1967. In 1975 he became a student of Dainin Katagiri Roshi in Minneapolis and was ordained in 1979. He has studied with teachers in the U.S., Asia, and Europe, and in 1989 received transmission (endorsement to teach) from Katagiri Roshi.

Steve Hagen is the author of the following books: Meditation Now or Never (HarperOne, 2007), Buddhism Is Not What You Think (HarperSanFrancisco, 2003), Buddhism Plain and Simple (Tuttle, 1997), How the World Can Be the Way It Is (Quest Books, 1995).

He has edited: You Have to Say Something, a collection of Dharma talks by Dainin Katagiri (Shambhala, 1998)

Khenpo Sherab Sangpo at The Center for Non-Violence - 08/27/2010 - Delete - Edit
This seminar will present meditation instructions according to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. The topics presented in this course instill the meditator with a sense of enthusiasm for spiritual practice and insight into the nature of existence. Individual course topics include:

1. The preciousness of the human life
2. Subtle and obvious impermanence
3. Karmic causality and interdependence
4. Suffering and its causes
5. The cessation of suffering and the path of liberation.

Khenpo Sherab Sangpo was trained by some of the greatest meditation masters of Tibet, Khenpo Pedma Tsewang, said of him, “Not only has he thoroughly studied and contemplated all these teachings on Buddhist sutra and tantra, he has brought this process to fruition.”

This event will take place August 27th - 29th
Friday: 7-9pm,
Saturday and Sunday: 9am-12pm & 2-5pm

The location will be the Center for Non-Violence (Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs entrance), 3rd floor, 202 E. Superior Street, Duluth
